2024 Hunting Season
For me 2024 was one of the best years we have had since we started Willow Creek Outfitters back in 2001. It wasn’t just because we harvested some great animals, it was the combination of amazing clientele and a staff that did an amazing job and worked well with each other and with the clients. On a guided hunt the crew that takes care of you is what makes a hunt and I think all our clients appreciated the efforts that were put forth by our crew.
As always we start our guiding season in the spring with our spot and stalk black bear hunts. This has become a very popular hunt with a number of our clients returning to hunt multiple times as this is a true fair chase hunt and the hunters that desire this also recognize that this hunting experience is as good as it gets! We had a dozen hunters this spring with nine hunters taking a bear, which a third were color phased. We are now booking for 2026 if you want to get in on some exciting spring bear hunting action.
Summer is the preparation time for our fall hunts. Deer are scouted, gear organized, horses shod and hunting access acquired. We headed to the mountains in early August and set up camps for our sheep and elk hunts and at the end of the month our first hunters arrived. We were fortunate to harvest four rams for our hunters with two of the sheep hunters completing their grand slam of North American sheep. One of our hunters also harvested a bull elk that scored just shy of 350”.
On to our deer hunts, we had 7 bowhunters that ended up taking 4 bucks with a number of missed shots as well. The rifle season was very successful with all 9 mule deer hunters taking deer and 6 out of 9 whitetail hunters taking bucks.
I would like to thank all our clients that joined us this year as well as all that have hunted with us in the past. Majority of our clients have hunted with us multiple times or have been referred to us by a past client so our fair chase hunts must be providing the experience our customers desire.
